Learning About Crystals In Science - Oksista (G. M. from OKC)

My exposure to crystals, rocks, and gemstones came naturally in my family. My father is a geologist and we would go on "fossil hunts" as a family. It was a way for us to be together, my parents and me and my brother. It also taught me to slow down and actually "see" what I was looking for in nature. Now, as an adult, I have a deeper appreciation with All of Nature and the benefits of slowing down and seeing outside myself. My fascination with crystals are with those I grew up with. There are several large, natural, clear crystals that I have been surrounded by all my life. I love these large, welcoming crystals. They are symbols of home for me. My other memory is in grade school science class. I remember growing "crystals" using salt on a string. I thought this was so amazing! Plus, another experiment was to grow colored crystals on glass. I forget what kind of solution we used but I remember how "neat" it was to see the crystals covering the glass and admiring the beautiful colors. It brought the natural world to life for me and I began to see the connections with the basic units of life..the building blocks that all of us are made of. Those years were a good foundation for me to connect with Mother Earth and Our Creator in a cosmic and personal way. As I grow older it seems my relationship and connection to the crystals grows stronger and more colorful, just like those crystals in science class. Amazing to witness their growth and imagine how we are all related. These crystals are symbols of hope, courage, and power for me. The ones I grew up with are also very comforting. As I live with my mother, it is very comforting to have these crystals here. I also feel a sense of forgiveness when I embrace the comfort they bring. I don't see my dad that often but when I do I try to ask him about certain rocks and crystals because I love hearing the stories he has to tell me about them. These are a few of my favorite stories about crystals and connections. Thanks for letting me share with all of you!

Handfasting With Amethyst from C. C. of Tennessee

It's difficult for me to choose my favorite crystal but I will share with you two of my favorites and the reasons behind them.
For many years, I carried rose quartz with me everywhere. When I was in need of a relationship, I would put a small, polished rose quartz inside of my bra and wear it all the time. It would help me to emulate the feelings that I needed. I wore a bracelet of rose quartz when I was handfasted a year ago to help promote the love that we shared that day.
Also for years, I would carry amethyst to help me be more grounded, focused and not be a slave to addictions. I found it very helpful in many areas of my life.
The day my hubby and I were handfasted, a fellow coven-sister presented us with a beautiful amethyst carved into the shape of a heart. It is much too large to carry but it sets on my alter under a window to catch the rays of the full moon. Whenever I feel a little down about anything, I just pick it up, caress it and feel the power and strength that fills it.
The night before the Handfasting, all of the members present at the gathering passed that amethyst heart around and they all filled it with their personal blessings. This 'gathering' was composed of a group of very eclectic pagans from all over the U.S.-- we all belonged to an online group called The Village of Lothlorien and held the gathering in Woodstock, N.H. There were a few High Priestesses from their 'home covens', a couple of Druids, some Taoist thinkers, a few High Priests and many other eclectic trads represented. All with my dear Catholic raised, non-pagan hubby! During the ritual before the Handfasting, the amethyst
was blessed by the two High Priests officiating and place on the ceremonial altar. It truly is filled with much power and strength and will always be a very cherished item that I am now the caretaker of.

Hematite Beats Depression from C. L. of Missouri

I am "dependent " on my Hematite stone that I carry in my pocket all the time. I was told by my Dr. that I have chronic depression , I refuse to take the Medicine he prescribed. I did some research and found that Hematite was recommended for depression. It has changed my life , with out all the harmful stuff the Dr. wanted to give me. My other favorite stone is Labradorite , can't explain that one, just gives me a very up lifting feeling. Happiness to all ,

Grandma's Frog from Vicki at www.spiritcharmhaven.com (aromatherapy and reiki)

My favorite crystal is a tiny frog carved out of amethyst. It was given to me by my grandma. She was a great healer and witch. She trained me from the time I could sit in her lap and chatter back to her and hold a wooden spoon in my hand to stir a pot. Since then, I've always had a soft spot for amethysts and feel a deep connection to them.

River Crystal from Angel's Bratt

My favorite crystal is one I found in Missouri along a river bank. I was quite surprised to fine it there as I didn't know that crystals could be found along riverbanks! Its an angel crystal, clear, yet wispy near the end. This crystal is about an inch to inch 1/2 long. I am very very blessed by being able to find my crystal in nature itself and not bought at a shop or store.  Blessings AngelsBratt

Husband's Pick from AJC

While I am drawn to so many crystals, right now my favorite one is a beautiful fluorite pyramid my husband recently bought me. It is a deep, deep green and purple. I can get lost looking into this crystal as there are so many inclusions and shapes within. But the best part is how I received this stone. As a thank you to me, my husband snuck out to our New Age Store to find me a crystal. He's not into crystals as much as me, but he does appreciate their beauty. While at the store, he got out their book and read up on the metaphysical properties of this stone. Then when I opened the box and saw this beauty, he promptly told me all about it's properties, and then he told me that he had charged it with his energy for me (what a sweetie, he knows how I love his energy). Even if it was a lump of coal, his thoughtfulness would still make it my favorite stone. Luckily though it's really beautiful! :)

A Kaleidoscope of Thoughts
by Stephanie Pflumm

MORNING BLESSING

Good morning Grandfather.
Thank you for your bright kiss
that begins this day.

Good morning Mother.
Thank you for your firm foothold
as I traverse this day.

Good morning Father.
Thank you for your limitless vision
that inspires my actions this day.

Good morning Grandmother.
Thank you for your ageless rhythms
that rule the turning of this day

into Night.

Mother, Father, Fire, Water
thank you for all the ways
you bless this daughter.

HEAT RELIEF

Sun
sets,
heat
relief.
Light
leaves,
leaving
behind
darkness.
Cool
embrace
soft
winds
move
gates
allowing
new
dreams
to float in.

STONES IN MY GARDEN

The Stones in my garden
hold water
for the butterflies
and give the flowers
a hard edge to soften,
a cool shadow
for their roots.

The Stones in my garden
make homes
for the Faeries
and other friends
that share the seeds and berries,
a sweet harvest
for everyone.

The Stones in my garden
whisper secrets
of ancient songs
and primal moments
when Mother first awoke
and began
to birth her children.
