Mother Garnet
by Andrea Adams ©Copyright 2002

When I was about 6 months pregnant with my 2nd (and last) daughter I found out I had gestational diabetes. On the same night that I found out I gestational diabetes I had this very neat dream that I was having a baby girl who was dressed in a VERY dark red velvet dress and was just absolutely beautiful. That next day I pondered on that dream and had an overwhelming feeling that I needed to get a Dark Red stone, necklace or ring to carry around with me. I went to one of the local "Around the World" type shops and found a pendant that was of a Mother shape with a Dark Red stone for the very Round tummy and an amethyst top. Once I began to wear the pendant I started feeling at ease that everything would be ok. What was weird was that she was born in February which points to the amethyst but, I never did find out what the red stone stood for..... she was born with a heart murmur so I always wondered if that had to do with it .. or if it was a stone that helped me get through the stress. It could also be a Garnet for my birthday being January ... I don't know what the red stone is ..... but, whatever it was it made a huge impact on my life.

Moldavite and Marriage
by Teddy ©Copyright 2002

The most important crystal to me has been the moldavite in my wedding ring. We bought rings and had the diamonds removed and replaced with matching moldavites .... not without trouble, I might add. LOL! The jeweler had never heard of such a thing, and thought they were peridot. He broke one and we had to re-buy them. They are more fragile than other stones, but since they are set flush with the surface of the ring, we've been able to prevent damage.
Anyway... there's nothing terribly dramatic, just looking at the course of our lives and our marriage, though, tells me that a deep and significant transformation is taking place. As the material things come together... health, house, retirement plans, jobs, and other 'possessions'... there has been a strong undercurrent of spiritual change, charge, and growth. I'll always be partial to moldavites, and they seemed especially appropriate since hubby and I used to watch for falling stars when we dated, 'our' song references a falling star, and we moved to a home in the country when we got married .... a place called 'Falling Star Farm'!!! Coincidence? I don't think so!

Rose Quartz Courage
by Stephanie Pflumm

Rose Quartz has always been my favorite crystal. As a child, I loved its color (pink is my favorite color) and as an adult it was the very first crystal I was drawn back to.
I hadn't played with stones in probably twenty some years. Mother had long since thrown out my childhood collections (they were only rocks, Mom said). As I began researching and studying various old traditions, my interest was aroused by a reference that suggested carrying a stone in your pocket as a reminder of your connection to All.
At the next opportunity I decided to choose a stone, and sent my hand digging deep into a store's crate of gemstones and crystals. My fingers find a triangle shape and it seemed to be attached to me, so I pulled it out. It was a Rose Quartz. I dig again for a moment or two, but don't feel that same connection I felt with the first stone I drew. I purchased the Rose Quartz and it went straight into my pocket.
That evening, while walking, the words "everything will be ok" seem to suddenly etch themselves into my thoughts. Well of course everything is ok, good job, healthy kids, bills paid up and on time . . . yet the thought clung like velcro, no matter what happens, it will be ok.
Two or three weeks passed, when out of the blue there was a major disruption at my place of employment. Ethics and intense emotions forced me to suddenly seek work elsewhere. Less than five days passed before I was hired, with the same salary, better benefits and a much healthier work environment. Everything had turned out ok.
After carrying that Rose Quartz for a year and a day, I gave it away to a dear friend. One year after that, I began Ozark Rock Exchange and have never been out of Rose Quartz since.

Heart Healer
by Kelly ©Copyright 2002

I have found my favorite stone to be Carnelian. Last summer when I was at Renaissance Festival I was looking for a necklace that felt like mine, when I found this red orange stone. I knew as soon as I found it, it was the one for me. Little did I know that it would be needed in the near future. Within a week I suffered a bad break-up, my new stone was of great comfort to me. I also used it as a focus when I came into my period of healing. All in all, I knew nothing of Carnelian but it became a very important element in my life and in the end it chose me. ~Kelly

Moonstone Serves Military
by Laura Emerson ©Copyright 2002

I had always heard about the powers of gemstones and though I enjoyed reading about them I was a little skeptical in their ability to help people in their lives. That was until June when I saw for myself just how powerful they can be. I am in the military and deployed to Afghanistan for 2 months. I admit that I was afraid of what would happen and of what position I could be put in. Our unit was sent on a trek which included going through some pretty treacherous landscape. I walked very careful through tons of jagged rocks but all of a sudden lost my footing. I just had time to grab onto a small rock ledge and hold on until I could slowly pull myself up onto it. As I had fallen behind the others and also twisted my ankle in the fall I knew that I would be alone until someone came for help. I will never forget feeling so helpless and alone and most of all afraid. I just wanted to be back home. After sitting there for awhile I took my backpack and opened it up to get my canteen for water. As I dug through the backpack I felt something small and smooth in the deep corner of the bottom of the pack. I took it out and there was a small white stone with a tiny note which said "come back safe, mom". I cried as I took that stone and held on tight. I closed my eyes and began to believe in what it could do. Within minutes I heard some yells for my name. I was rescued from my ledge and unbearable heat and as I was helped down I clung to that stone. It turned out to be a Moonstone and I will always believe that it was that stone (and also my mothers love) which gave me the hope I had never lost and helped me return home safe and sound. I am now a true believe in the properties and power of gemstones.

Grandmother Amethyst
by Judy Baker ©Copyright 2002

Ok well I a have a short personal story and then a story I wrote a while back I want to submit. But first my favorite crystal. Well ... I have some pretty ones and I have some powerful ones, but I think I'd have to say the okenite we got from you are my favorites and I Love Both mine and my son's. I believe it helps keep the energy clear along with our cedar, sage, and sweet grass at our house - actually I know they do! They have never just been something to look at, though everybody does, they pick them up and rub them. I the feel better when they do ... those guys are busy. And they have been a wonderful addition to our home.

My personal story is about my Grandmother Amethyst crystal cluster. I got it years ago in Colorado, my mother's cousin was an old rock hound and took me somewhere that the construction they were doing, cut deep into a mountain and these were everywhere, (though now of course they are all gone - believe me I checked). Well anyway, I felt like I rescued it, and it settled right in to my family, was a part of it as my brother and I. It followed my family
every where, every move we made for years. It was with me for years. In my room on my dresser, on a shelf. Watching me grow. Then when I was older I left it well cared for in my mother's garden, along with some of my other favorites, while I went to school, got married etc.

A few years back, I developed a chronic back problem that turned big and ugly. I was said to have Failed Back Syndrome, and moderate osteoarthritis. I was in my early 30's. I was told surgery could slow my deterioration, they could fuse a few discs here and there, help stabilize the back- but it was a long painful recovery, and the results would be temporary. I had to find something else. Well it would take too long to tell the whole journey, of which I am actually still on, but I will tell you this. I went and got Grandmother Amethyst. I couldn't even lift her then, she weighed maybe 20 lbs. I kept her with me always, or almost. I meditated with her, I would sit with my back to her, sometimes putting her under a bunch of pillows with a heating pad and some homemade balm a friend of mine made for me, and watch TV. And I started thinking I wanted my life back ... so I started telling Grandmother how much I wanted my back to get better, she went to work. I took her everywhere. I even drove with grandmother in the seat behind me while I was recovering, and I found I was regaining what I had lost as far as mobility and strength, the pain lessened, as I healed ... and I claimed my body back. And it really worked - but I bet you Knew that!

Now, I am training in Martial Arts, no less the 5 times a week, up to 9 times. I have more work to do, but am stronger now, and in better shape than I was in my teens!

I have used Grandmother many times, in ceremonies, in meditation - when I want to pray big prayers for someone I sit in between her and some other stones. I could then and still do feel them working, vibrating, breathing, working with me. Grandmother seems to "lead" the others .... she's been working with me for years, I just recently learned what an awesome gift that is/was.
Live well, Laugh often, Love much.

..intunewithstars..

Will you just add a note though, that although I'd have to say the okenite is my favorite newer addition, Grandmother is more than just another cluster, she's a Very Important member of the family? I thought about that after I wrote you that I didn't, maybe, get that across. And as you know, it's so important we not forget to honor our Grandmothers!

Tree Crystal
by Rachel ©Copyright 2002

I have a very special crystal that I found back in high school. We were doing a tree survey and I was in the woods, and noticed something glittering at me on a tree. I walked up to it and noticed something inside the bark of the tree. I peeled back a few layers and found a small beautiful crystal. No telling how long it has been there. I have carried this crystal with me everyday since. I've had it for 8 years.
