O
RE’S FEATURED GEMSTONE: Subscriber’s Choice I

This special issue of ORE FEATURES was edited by you. In the last issue, you were invited to vote for your favorite articles - these are the ones that won.

CHARGING CRYSTALS was chosen by 35% of the voters, CRYSTAL MAGIC was the choice of 32% of the voters.

CHARGING CRYSTALS first ran in Vol. 1. 1, Issue 2, November 13, 1999.
CRYSTAL MAGIC is actually a glossary of Quartz Crystal point formations & the energies that each of the different points can help you create. CRYSTAL MAGIC first ran in Vol. 1 Issue 5, January 1, 2000.

CHARGING YOUR CRYSTALS
by Stephanie Pflumm

To activate the energies within your gemstones, especially if you plan to use them to accomplish a certain task, you will need to charge them.

If your intention is to work with your gemstones toward a specific goal - take careful steps as you charge each stone, to be clear in your mind & to the universe what that goal is. I often write a small prayer or verse that I’ll later include in the final power pouch.

Do not overcharge a stone. Be singular in your intention for each stone. If your work is multi-layered, choose a combination of gemstones that can bring together a variety of energies. It is easy to confuse the issue when you ask too much of anyone.

There are many ways to actually charge your gemstones, once you’ve made your intentions clear. Work with all these practices, find the one that feels good for you. There are no right or wrong ways.

FULL MOON - is one of the most common ways to charge a stone. For your most effective charge, place your stone beneath the moon as it rises, leave out over night & retrieve before sunrise.

A Full Moon is excellent for charging if your intention is to attract, build or grow.

NEW MOON - to charge with the New Moon, you must place your gemstones out during the day. Since you are unable to seen the New Moon, I generally try to charge sunrise to sunset. However, during winter months, you may want to leave your gem out a little past sunset.
Use a New Moon when your intention is to repair, correct or undo.

SUN - Normally there are only four times a year you may use the sun to create a charge. The Spring & Fall Equinox & the Summer & Winter Solstice. When you are lucky enough to be under a full eclipse of the sun, you have an opportunity to create a rare charge.

The Sun’s charge is useful in the same intentions as the Full Moon, especially if you are needing extra fire to achieve your goal.

YOU - that’s right, you are a charging element. You can also work as an enhancement tool when using the above elements to charge. Use your primary hand (the one you write with), to hold the stone while visualizing your need. If you are using the Sun or Moon, raise the stone in your hand towards the source, again visualizing .

As you visualize, your are creating the needed energy, so this method can be used for any kind of intention.

A few more important notes on charging.

Where you charge your gemstones can also influence the energies. I have stone altars (disguised as rock gardens) set in an East, South, West & North location in my yard.

If your intention is creating abundance or wealth (not always the same thing), North is where you’d want to charge your stone. If you are working to create protection, use the West.

Gemstones that have been charged to achieve a specific short term goal, need to be de-programmed once your goal is accomplished.

You may cleanse your gemstones (vol. 1, issue 1), give them back to the creator by burying them or leaving them somewhere special or give them away to someone needing a little magic of their own.

Gemstones that you are using as tools or for long term goals, need on-going attention as well. Cleanse & charge these stones regularly to protect them & you from harmful energies.

Finally, in any work you do, please ask that your outcome be correct & for the good of all. Take care that your request doesn’t cause unintended harm in order to achieve your purpose. And it is certainly not wise to use your work to intentionally cause harm. Always, be careful what you wish for.

Crystal Magic
by Stephanie Pflumm

Quartz Crystals are an exciting gemstone to study because of the vast variety of colors and textures this mineral takes on. Even as a simple clear quartz it grows into elaborate shapes and designs. Each of these Crystal Growth Patterns can bring a different energy to your work. These are just a small sampling of some of the more common Crystal Patterns.

Aperture: By definition, this is a large crystal formation. The crystal forms, creating a hollow crater that can contain fluids. Filling the crater with water or elixirs will allow you to access information from the past, present and future. An Aperture Crystal may be used for lung, liver, pancreas, stomach and other related illnesses.
Barnacle: A larger “Old Soul” crystal that is covered with smaller points. This is an excellent meditation crystal for gaining insight into family or group problems.

Bridged: A small crystal growing out of a larger point. This growth pattern helps build a bridge between the inner and outer worlds. This formation aids individuals working to share knowledge on either a spiritual or material plane.
Clusters: A grouping of crystal points grown from the same host rock. Cluster crystals help harmonize group energies and can bring peace to family gatherings. The ability to generate high levels of energy (directly related to the number of points grown in each cluster) make clusters wonderful cleansing and charging tools for other gemstones.

Double Terminated: Crystals that have grown to a terminated point at both ends. This extremely powerful crystal may be used for astral projection, intensifying dreams, and provide protection for both the spirit and the body. Also an important healing stone, transforming negative into positive.

Elestial: Either a layered or etched crystal with multiple terminated points. Unlike a “Bridged” crystal, these points form along a parallel plane to each other. An enchanted crystal that can bring the heart & mind into sync, help cast off emotional burdens or sustain you through change.

Generator: Six faces of a crystal terminating in a point. Small generators make powerful pendulums. Use this crystal to magnify energy & stimulate the physical, intellectual, emotional, or spiritual body. A very important healing stone.

Key: This crystal will have a three or six sided indentation. The indent will narrow as it enters the main crystal, sometimes terminating in a point. Unlock your hidden self or what you cannot see on the surface of a situation.
Rainbow: Fractures within the crystal create some beautiful rainbow effects (which makes it one of my favorite crystals).

These sparkling crystals help you cope with negativity & see the miracle of everyday life. The rainbow colors created by the fractures make this an excellent Chakra stone.

7 & 8 Face: Seven or eight faces of a crystal terminating in a point. Brings energy to endeavors & helps to remove obstacles in the way of your goal. Angelic energies have also been attributed to this crystal.
Singing: Small terminated crystals that “sing” when touched together.

Twin: Two or more individual points that have grown together in such a way that parts of each crystal are parallel & parts are at opposing angles. You can use this crystal to build relationships (of any kind). Twins are also valuable in bringing groups together & promoting universal love.

There are easily dozens more formations that Crystals will grow into. I like to think of them as Mother’s answer to snowflakes, no two are ever exactly alike.
