ORE’S FEATURED GEMSTONE: Aventurine Aventurine is listed under two different categories in my geology reference books. In the feldspar group, Sunstone is also referred to as an Aventurine-Feldspar. The Aventurine this article will explore is in the Aventurine-Quartz class. This colorful quartz occurs in green, white, blue, brown & pink (almost raspberry). Not quite as translucent as most quartz formations, the Aventurine Quartz is very compact & fine-grained with a speckled sheen across the surface. Speckling is caused by tiny to microscopic enclosures that have formed inside the quartz. The majority of these enclosures contain Mica. In green Aventurine, the enclosures contain a green chrome-mica fuchsite. In a limited number of stones, the luster is caused by small cracks in the quartz filling with hydrated oxidized iron. In pink Aventurine, the enclosures are filled with Hematite. Russia has some of the largest deposits of Aventurine, the majority found in the Ural Mountains (along with large deposits of Malachite), in thick beds of Mica schist. Russian Czars have been fond of presenting Aventurine Vases to the princes of Europe. Once such vase stands four feet high & has a circumference of six feet was presented to Sir Roderick I. Murchison for his work in surveying Russia’s geological wealth. Substantial blocks (large enough to cut slabs from) of high quality green Aventurine are found in India. Scotland, Spain, France & Bavaria are some European locals with Aventurine deposits. In China, green Aventurine is a highly revered stone. It is considered the imperial yu-stone, and much more esteemed than Jade. China does not have its own source of Aventurine. Green is the most common color for Aventurine, so the majority of energy properties I could find were related to green gemstone. This color works well balancing & activating your fourth Chakra (the heart), Hematite included Pink Aventurine should help balance your base Chakra & use the blue when aligning the sixth Chakra, your third eye. As a power stone, Aventurine is excellent for abundance & wealth energies. This lucky stone has a reputation as a gambler’s stone, bringing luck in risky situations. Aventurine can also help you be more decisive & perform on a more instinctive level. Its healing powers include disorders of the heart (place the gemstone over your heart & feel the energy & strength flow in), lungs, adrenal glands, & muscles. You may also find this gem valuable in reducing cholesterol & the prevention of arteriosclerosis. Use it to clear the skin (especially when allergies are involved), relieve fevers & alleviate pain. Monday the Wheel of Life turned from North To East & I gave away stones that I have been working with throughout the year to honor that turning. Choosing gemstones. The very first thing I will tell you about choosing gemstones & crystals is forget everything you read or hear about a particular stone. There is only one true thing you need to know about working with a stone . . . how you feel holding it or observing it. Some stones will be stronger for you & work for you in different ways than it will for me. You will not learn this from an article or a book. You will only learn it from your heart. A subscriber from Brooklyn NY uses Aventurine to reduce fevers & for healing. I use Aventurine for stimulating opportunity & creating abundance energies. To begin, I mark my circle, set my bags of rocks inside, cast my protection around the circle & step inside. I prepare mentally by doing a Rainbow/Chakra countdown. I breathe through my Chakras, visualizing the corresponding color. Now I get to play. With all the rocks & stones spread out before me, I meditate on each of the four cardinal directions & the energies I need/want from that element. I begin the mediation with the direction the Wheel is in, which is Spring now. There are two sets of stones that will be chosen, so the annual stones are meditated on first. The Wheel of Life begins in the East/Spring, so both times I will choose the East stone first. Here are the four stones I chose as the annual East/South/West/North: East - East is the direction that teaches us, opens doors to new knowledge. I choose a Rose Quartz, because this is my primary companion crystal. I like to work with Rose Quartz in the East, because it is a great teacher & communicator, always showing me the correct choice/direction. South - Fire is the element of the South & I choose a Lace Agate with fiery red veins. South is the season of doing. Agate is a very protective stone, as I get caught up the passion of my work, I need lots of protection. West - Water, Dreams & Transformation are some of the energies of the West. Amethyst has always worked well for me in utilizing the energies of these elements. North - Mother Earth rules this quarter of the Wheel, the home of wisdom & knowing. I choose a Quartz Crystal Point to receive the knowledge of the North. For my seasonal stones, I consider energies I desire in the short term: East - Aventurine for opportunity South - Tiger Eye for wealth West - Rose Quartz for direction North - Ruby for power As I select each stone, I ask permission to work with it. Are the energies I’m requesting correct for me & all of my relations? I realize it is not possible to cast a circle in a retail outlet to pick out gemstones & crystals. Nor, are you able to hold a gem or crystal that you are purchasing on-line. You can still make correct choices in spite of these obstacles. Many of my customers use a pendulum. Asking if this stone or that crystal is needed now. You can find pendulums in your favorite stone, or, a new customer of ORE uses an Angel/Fairy pendulum with great success. In the past, I have used other crystals to help me make a choice. Rose Quartz was the first crystal to reveal its voice to me. When I first began working with stones, I would inquire with a Rose Quartz about this gem or that crystal. To use this method, you need to be certain which stone speaks to you with the most clarity. To help you discover your ally or companion stone, try this: Do this five times. If you pull the same stone three times, you can feel confident that its voice is for you. If you pull the same stone all five times, NEVER leave home without it! Most of all - have FUN choosing your gemstones & crystals. These sparkling little thoughts of God are here for your joy, health, love & protection. Normally, they can’t wait to go home with you. These new pouches are wool with deerskin fringe & trim.
